Free CDL Tanker Practice Test
Take a free CDL tanker endorsement practice test about liquid surge, outage, baffles, and safe tanker operation.
Prepare for Tanker Vehicles
The tanker endorsement test addresses the special handling risks of transporting liquids or gases in tanks. Drivers study liquid surge, high centers of gravity, smooth braking and steering, outage, bulkheads, baffles, and careful inspection for leaks.
Use this three-question preview to test the fundamentals. The complete Tanker Vehicles course expands the practice across tanker inspection, loading effects, and safe driving techniques.

Frequently asked questions
What is liquid surge?
Liquid surge is movement of liquid inside a partially filled tank. It can push the vehicle forward, backward, or sideways and affect control.
Why do tankers need outage?
Liquids expand as temperature rises. Outage is the unfilled space that allows expansion without overflowing the tank.
Are baffled tanks protected from every type of surge?
No. Baffles mainly reduce forward-and-back movement. Side-to-side surge can still occur and must be controlled with smooth driving.
